From the 1st to the 3rd of March, the Men’s Handball team of the Academic Association of the University of Minho (AAUMinho) headed to Leiria, to be present at the 2nd Concentrated Journey. During the three days, 12 Minho athletes won four of the five games held.
On the first day of the competition, the team from Minho Academy played a match against the Academic Association of the University of Évora. The game ended with Minho’s victory, by 25-19.
On March 2, the victories continued. In the morning, the opponent was the Polytechnic Institute of Beja, which lost by 29-12. During the afternoon, the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém also suffered a defeat against the AAUMinho formation, by 36-3.
On the last day of the JC, the University of Minho team started the day by playing against the Academic Association of the University of Beira Interior and winning the match, by 21-11. The last game in the competition ended with the first defeat of Minho Academy against the Academic Association of the University of Aveiro, by 18-21.
With seven games played over the two days, AAUMinho won six matches, which reflects its effectiveness and quality. In this way, the men’s Handball team qualified for the final phase of the National University Championship, by finishing in second place in the league table.
